Features of Algal Expression System

  • Compared with the bacterial expression system, microalgae can complete complex protein folding to form active proteins.
  • Compared with the yeast expression system, microalgae can carry out glycosylation to meet people's specific needs of antigen and antibody;
  • Compared with transgenic plants, microalgae have shorter culture cycle and less restriction by external environment such as season;
  • Compared with animal cell culture, microalgae have lower production cost (protein) and large-scale cultivation can be achieved.
  • In addition, microalgae-derived proteins are biocompatible and can be directly consumed by animals without purification, which greatly reduces the cost of purification and recovery.
