Wheat Germ Cell-free Protein Synthesis System

WGE (Wheat Germ Extract) system is one of the most widely used eukaryotic CFPS (Cell-Free Protein Synthesis) systems. Compared with E. coli system, this technology has better performance in complex protein synthesis and post-translational modification. WGE is usually prepared from wheat seed embryos and reacts to produce hundreds of micrograms to milligrams of recombinant protein per milliliter, depending on the protein and form.

CFPE system of wheat germ extract is suitable for prokaryotic and eukaryotic protein expression. Codon optimization is usually not required even when expressing the high A / T or G / C content  transcripts. The system is particularly suitable for the production of proteins with complex conformations and multiple protein complexes, such as disulfide bonds or intact membrane proteins. A variety of proteins and large proteins have been successfully produced from the WGE system.
