Description
Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) is a hormone, structurally similar to insulin, that stimulates cell growth and proliferation while inhibiting apoptosis. It functions primarily by activating the AKT signaling pathway after binding to its specific receptor, IGF1R. A potent engineered analog, IGF-1 LR3, is a modified version with an N-terminal extension and an amino acid substitution (E3R). These modifications grant IGF-1 LR3 significantly higher stability and biological activity compared to the native protein.
