Description
Williams’ Medium E was developed by Williams and Gunn for long-term, low-serum culture of adult rat hepatocytes. It is also suitable for culturing various mammalian stem cells. This formulation includes 2000 mg/L glucose, 50 mg/L glycine, and 25 mg/L sodium pyruvate, and lacks phenol red, L-glutamine, and HEPES. Supplementation with 5–10% FBS is recommended. Due to 2.2 g/L sodium bicarbonate content, it should be used in a 5–10% CO2 environment.
